Brief


Satpura National Park is located in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh in Central India. It is spread over Satpura Hills on highlands of Central India. If you are fed-up of struggle for entrance tickets, pool of gypsy at entrance gate, every now & then finding safari vehicles moving inside jungle then Satpura National Park is the right solution for nature & wildlife lovers. It is the place where every true wildlife lovers should must visit to appreciate the peaceful jungle, away from hustle & bustle of safari jeeps, beautiful hilly terrains, deep gorges, rivulets, virgin forest locations etc. of Satpura National Park is nurtured in the Satpura Ranges of Hoshangabad district in center Madhya Pradesh. Along with adjoining Pachmarhi & Bori Sanctuaries, Satpura Tiger Reserve is spread over an area of 1427 sq.kms, otherwise Satpura National Park covers an area of 524 sq.km. Various ways of wildlife watching distinguishes its from other tiger reserves of India. Here one can do jeep safari, elephant safari, walking safari & boat safari. Unspoiled Highland eco-system of Satpura National Park is unique in nature and was established in 1981.

Boat Safari
A fantastic way of bird watching and Wildlife viewing is by boat, canoe or Kayak –paddling silently along the jungle’s edge and enjoying the birdlife and wildlife as it emerges. Magical experience. All boats are manned by trained boatmen/Guides who are re-employed fishermen left jobless with the expansion of the park boundaries over the water.

Elephant Safari
As with other tiger reserves in central India, Satpura supports a small herd of riding elephants that are used to track tigers and then put on a ‘tiger show’ where visitors can drive up to the closest road point to the tiger, climb abroad an elephant and be ferried out to where the tiger is located. It is good way to see and photograph Tigers.

Jeep Safari
Just like any other national parks of Madhya Pradesh, Jungle Safari system of Satpura National Park is similar. Here 4-wheel driven vehicles (petrol/diesel) are used to park-safari. Here no vehicle of more that 5-years old is allowed to go for park-safari. Park entrance charges and guide fee is similar to any other national park of Madhya Pradesh. Jeeps are generally hired from market in Pachmarhi or through hotels.

Bird Watching
View some of the rarest of migratory bird species that flock the waters. In fact, you can sit in your balcony reading a book on water birds, and at the same time sight them through a binocular. The guide can also take you to the adjacent forests and help you identify and click more birds

Best Time


Visitors can visit Satpura National Park from October to June.

How to Reach


By Air
Nearest airport for reaching Satpura national park is in Bhopal city (190kms/04:00hrs) which has direct flight connectivity with Delhi, Mumbai, Indore etc. Next best option is Jabalpur Airport which is about 265kms/05:30hrs having direct flight connectivity with Delhi. On more option is Nagpur airport (approx 330kms) having connectivity with Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Dubai

By Rail
Nearest railway station for reaching Satpura tiger reserve is Sohagpur about 20kms from national park. Being a small station, many long-route trains do not stops here so next better option in Pipariya railway station which is about 45kms from national park.

By Road
Satpura National park is close to Pachmarhi hill station and can be easily travelled by road from cities like Bhopal, Jabalpur, Chindwara, Nagpur. It is in Hoshangabad district and well linked by road from other places.

Stay / Eat


Where to Stay
Government Accommodation Across the denwa river, one can enjoy the comfortable stay in rooms offered by forest department. Their location is best among any other resort or lodge as they are the only accommodation facility in between satpura national park and denwa river. Here one can enjoy the time with some orphan wild animals like blue bull, spotted deer, chital etc. who were feeded by working employees and they remain in & around rooms.
